The Audasud Trombinoscope is a gallery of more or less threadbare vignettes where the plausible and the fallacious, the irrefutable and the chimerical, the familiar real and the absurd imaginary mingle cheerfully. These biographical notices most often begin with the sometimes fanciful account of the birth of the targeted character and then cheerfully ring the hallali, which is the complete opposite of a call to prayer.
Here are sketched in a first volume twenty jubilant portraits of deceased personalities. Most come from the cultural field: poets, musicians, artists, filmmakers, actors, architects... Others come from the political, scientific or sports sphere. They share the fact that they were born in Sète or adopted by the Sète women and men. Some enjoyed fleeting influence or glory, others enjoyed eternal popularity. Most of them rest in Sète, at the Marin cemetery or at the Le Py cemetery. Their posthumous places of residence are specified at the end of the book.
This areopagus responds, page after page, to an editorial desire: to operate a trombinoscopy in the depths of the subject by intermingling with the least possible verbosity the lazzi and the parody. It was a question of not moving away, by vain circumlocutions, our readers from a truth based on verifiable facts with building caretakers worthy of this noble task, and to avoid being accused of seeing these honorable figures by the small end of the necrolorgnette.
